1931년 그 당시 플라이트 자켓의 개념을 뒤짚는 획기적인 라이트존용
모델 A-2자켓이 등장합니다.
이전까지의 단추형식 자켓 (A-1등)에 비해,
A-2는 지퍼형식을 처음 채용하여 기능성을 비약적으로 향상시키며,
후에 L-2 자켓으로 이어지는 플라이트 자켓의 스탠더드 모델이 됩니다.
A-2가 다른 자켓과 비교해서 각별한 취급을 받는 이유는 이때문 만은 아닙니다.
제2차 세계대전 당시 활약했던 A-2를 종전 후 본래 군에 반납해야만 하지만,
반납하지 않고 가지고 나간 파일럿들이 속출했습니다.
그것은 A-2의 획기적이며 세련된 디자인뿐만 아니라,
파일럿들에게 A-2란 훈장이고 자랑이며 보물이었기 때문입니다.
이런 배경으로 A-2는 KING OF FLIGHT JACKET 으로서 팬과
파일럿들에게 사랑받으며, 그들의 끊임없는 러브콜에 응해 1988년부터
산양 고트 소재로 만들어져 대망의 부활을 하며 공군을
대표하는 플라이트 자켓으로서 새롭게 무대에 등장하게 됩니다.
